Basic cake decoration  - Square cake


This is a two day course

On Day one you will learn how to ganache a Vanilla sponge square cake and on day 2 you will cover it with fondant and decorate the cake to look like a parcel .

This is the ideal course for a beginner or if you want to brush up your skills



Day one:

  • learn how to cut, fill and level a cake
  • Make chocolate ganache
  • Apply ganache to cake to achieve sharp edges and smooth sides


Day 2:

  • cover your cake with fondant
  • Learn how to NOT tear the corners
  • Smooth sides
  • Decorate the cake to look like a parcel
  • Apply detail to sides of the cake
  • Make stars on wires
  • Use tappits or letter cutters to add name to board
  • Cover board


All materials and tools that will be used in the class.

We even provide your box to take your cake home in.

Tea, Coffee and squash is provided during the day.

Something to nibble on while we are working, should you get hungry.


Booking Conditions:

 Please check the dates carefully when booking as there will be no refunds for cancellations if cancelled , however, we may be able to swap your booking onto an alternative date. Please note that NO REFUNDS or CHANGES will be made if you cancel within 7 days of the course date.  Should we need to cancel a class you will be offered an alternative date or a full refund.
